Summerfield Apartments, acquired in October of 2003, was the O’Brien Realty Group’s first acquisition in New Orleans. Built in 1973 and severely distressed at time of purchase, the 232 unit complex was renovated and stabilized over an eighteen month period. New amenities included a Resident Pavilion, Playscape and Resident Car Wash. In August of 2005, Summerfield’s nineteen buildings were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The property suffered wind, flood, tornado and fire damage. In 2009, Summerfield was completely renovated. The complex is currently 96% occupied.
